The Cummings Family : Stillwater Oklahoma Family Photographer

Seriously. The Cummings are one of my favorite families to spend time with. No. Lie.

I met with Lisa and Claire first and little miss Claire is something else. It’s pretty much all about her. And why wouldn’t it be? Just look at her! But seriously, at one point she was “putting on makeup backstage” while I had to go around the corner to announce the upcoming “Taylor Swift concert!”. Thank goodness I can act. I think if I hadn’t had enough emotion in it I would have gotten in trouble. I love her but I so don’t want to be someone she doesn’t like. It’s so much easier to photograph a kid that likes you. Right?!

Soon Steve and Luke showed up and Luke whipped out some poses that had the girls coming out of Joes absolutely swooning. You think I’m kidding. I’m totally not.

I probably would have hung around with this family extra long if I didn’t have to get to the Stillwater High School game to work the concessions. I guess since I didn’t do that I’ll just have to show up at their house sometime when I’m in a bad mood. These kids are sure to make me smile.

The Monlux Family : Stillwater Oklahoma Family Photographer

When booking her session Paula told me that she had “two highly energetic toddler boys”. Actually, in her session questionnaire she said something to that affect several different times. So I was prepared and while they were definitely energetic they were also incredibly cute and lots of fun. Sometimes during our sessions with active kiddos, it’s best to just let them be and do their own thing. While I chase them around with my camera of course.

I know a lot of people dream of family photographs with everyone posed wonderfully, looking straight at the camera with the most beautiful natural smile. But honestly, is that real life? When my kids are all grown and have families of their own, I want to be able to look back through photos and see the reality of what life was like at the time of those photos. And as a photographer, that is something that I strive to provide for each of my clients.

So while I definitely got some great shots of everyone in my lens looking at the camera and smiling during the Monlux family session, I also got a whole lot of the boys being exactly what they are today…two highly energetic toddler boys. Enjoy!

The Burdick Family : Stillwater Oklahoma Family Photographer

With 4 active boys, this is one busy family. I’m so glad that they made the trip from Ponca to see me though because we had a blast. These boys were cracking me up! And I feel certain that if we lived closer Amy and I would be friends. They are just such a neat family and um, not too bad looking. A certain someone who lives in my house saw me editing and when she saw Mr. Tristan she said, “Who is THAT?!” I teased him during the entire shoot too because I swear he must do modeling on the side. He was whipping out poses left and right. Maybe I’ll have to start taking him on my senior boy shoots so he can show them a thing or two!

And a little bonus. I’ve been having a lot of fun doing these fusion videos that combine my still images with a little bit of video that I take during the shoot. I love how it shows even more of the families personality!
