Concert with a Conscience

Back at the beginning of February I had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Concert With A Conscience. This event was started last year as a way to benefit missions in both Haiti and Honduras. Local artists donate lots of time and energy to put together an amazing show. I wasn’t able to attend last year but I was sure to be there this time and I’m so glad that I was. What an amazing evening of performances that were fun and entertaining. I’m telling you, my town has some seriously talented people in it!

Although I’m not sure how it can, I’m betting next year’s concert will be even bigger and better. And you can bet that I’ll be there again showing my support!

I often struggle when making videos with the decision of what music to set them to. I want to avoid breaking any copyrights but unfortunately that doesn’t leave a ton of choices. I had planned to use something upbeat with this video but when I heard a few lyrics from this song I decided it would work perfectly. It’s what the concert is about really. Helping those that are in need. The song is by Forest Sun and is called Sing Me To Sleep. Doesn’t the man in the song sound like he could use the singer’s from our concert?

Well the roof it leaks
And the stairs they creak
When no one else is around
And yesterday
I was on my way
Now my cars broken down
Guess I’ll have to stick around for now
And the sun’s come and gone without showing it’s face
Another day gone
Night shows it’s face
And I have no clue
What else is new
I’m just taking up space
an old dog
who’s given up the chase
And I have no doubt
That the stars came out
I just couldn’t see them for all of the gray
But if one of them did fall
I hope it heard my call
And will send an extra wish my way
Lord knows I could use the break
Cause I’ve grown so tired
My dreams aren’t on fire
there ashes in my mouth
And all my old questions
They seem so much less then
Important
To me now
The coals have gone out
So won’t you
Sing me to sleep
Like I was a little child
Sing me to sleep
I just want to close my eyes
Sing me to sleep
Tell me it’s gonna be all right
Won’t you sing me to sleep
Lay right here by my side
Oh and sing me
one last sweet lullaby
So won’t you
Sing me to sleep
Like I was a little child
Sing me to sleep
I just want to close my eyes
Sing me to sleep
Tell me it’s gonna be all right
Won’t you sing me to sleep
Lay right here by my side
Oh and sing me
one last sweet lullaby
