Ten on Tuesday : It’s BACK!

If you have followed my blog then you might remember right about this time last year when I started the blog series “Ten on Tuesday”.  I did a really good job keeping up with them until summer hit and things got crazy up in here.  I planned to get back on track in the fall but, um.  Yeah, not so much.  However, I’m BACK with the first installment of Ten on Tuesday for 2013.  I’m not promising that there will be something posted every week because apparently I have issues keeping up with that.  I will promise to have at least 5 of these this year.  See what I did there?  A realistic goal!  Go me!

So here’s the thing…I have a secret.  Actually, it’s not a secret to my closest friends who see me regularly.  It’s just not something that I have shared in a public place like my blog or Facebook.  Here’s the thing…I’m on a diet.

Ha!

Like that’s news.  Aren’t I always on a diet?  Why yes, yes I am.  This one is different though.  After a lifetime of yo-yo dieting, losing weight and then gaining it back (plus more), I have found something that is really working.  (Yes, I’ve said THAT before too.  I’m serious this time though.  For.  Real.)  I am currently in a program called Grace and Strength. It’s hard and wonderful and a struggle and rewarding all wrapped into one. My favorite thing about the Grace and Strength Lifestyle? The community of new friends that I have, the coach that I am in contact with daily and the Christian sisters who help me keep things in check.

(Wondering where my Ten comes in? Hold on a sec. It’s close.)

One of my sisters in Christ is my new friend Jaclyn. She has a blog and she posted something yesterday that really made me think. It was all about motives and the reason why we are all trying to lose weight. It really made me think. And just like Jaclyn mentions in her own post, none of the “whys” I initially came up with were glorifying to God.

EEK.

She goes on to challenge us to prayerfully consider some reasons for weight loss that DO glorify God. And I love them all. And…there are 10 of them. (See where I’m going here?)

If weight loss (or body image or food addiction or…you get the picture) has ever been a stronghold in your life, then I hope you’ll visit my friends blog. It’s definitely worth the trip over!

Time to check my motives.
