Kellen and Seth Part 2 : Macomb Illinois Wedding Photographer

It’s finally here! The much anticipated Sneak Peek Part 2 of the fantastic Hughes wedding. Woohoo!

Ok, it might just be that The Hughes are the only ones anticipating this that much but still. It’s exciting, right? In the first part of their sneak peek I shared them getting ready all the way up to arriving at the church. Now you get to see the ceremony and reception and all the amazing details that Kellen made sure were perfect. And let me tell you, they WERE perfect! Music, coffee and Scrabble are just a few things they love that Kellen successfully incorporated into the reception perfectly.

Table decor included framed song lyrics. Loved this!

The transformation of the curch lobby was amazing. And that hanging thing? It’s a parachute. How awesome does that look?!

A 10:30 wedding calls for brunch with delicious fruits and bagels and…COFFEE!

The cake looked so real Seth tried to play it. Just kidding. Kind of.

Kellen and Seth : Macomb Illinois Wedding Photographer

What? “Macomb Illinois Wedding Photographer”? Ha! Just this once, although I’d happily go visit the quaint little town again and see all of my new friends there! Actually, it’s really not that little, but I picture the town square when I think of it so in my head it’s little. And quaint.

Anywho

I’m not a huge fan of snow unless I’m stuck inside, and I really don’t like to be cold, but I braved both elements when I traveled to Illinois to shoot Kellen and Seth’s amazing wedding. And let me just say, it was truly amazing. Kellen paid attention to every little teeny tiny detail. Seriously. There are so many wonderful details from this wedding that I’m splitting it up into 2 parts. Yep. I can do that, cause it’s my blog. Woohoo!

This time last year, there hadn’t been snow on the ground in Macomb for several weeks and gardens were already being planted. Thank goodness that the original plans for an outdoor wedding weren’t taking place because we had snow and lots of it for wedding day. We started bright and early that morning at one of the bridesmaids homes that was the perfect location for getting ready and gorgeous bridal party pictures!

These library themed programs were amazing!

I might have taken a few pictures of the Tom’s. Fair warning.

The whole wedding party getting ready at the same house could have been a problem but not with these nifty signs!

Did I mention how much I loved the Toms?

What’s sweeter than this Bible that belongs to Kellen’s mom? A footed pj little flower girl holding the Bible that belongs to Kellen’s mom of course!

Kellen and Seth exchanged letters and read them aloud prior to their first sight. I teared up when Kellen read the wonderful words that her soon-to-be husband wrote for her. But when Seth read his and got to the part about a journal that she had been keeping for her future husband…before she even knew who he was…oh my word. It’s a wonder I was able to get any shots at all after that!

As if the reading of the letters wasn’t enough to get me going! The prayers offered for Kellen and Seth were just amazing. What a wonderful group of Christian brothers and sisters they have!

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there among them.” I couldn’t help but think of this verse as I was there in the room that day.

My view of the first sight…

Madi’s view…

Kellen my dear, you are stunning!

These girls were such troopers! The high that day was 29 degrees and this was early in the morning so it had to have been in the low 20′s at this point. Brrrrrr!

Some of the guys huddled together for warmth. Others refused the huddle.

Lesley and Corey : San Antonio Wedding Photography

Shortly after I scheduled Lesley and Corey’s wedding I realized that I made a grave error.  I knew, in my head, that I already had a wedding scheduled for the last weekend of November. So when Lesley asked if I was available December 1st, I looked at my December calendar and said YES!

It was a few weeks later that I realized that my “last weekend of November” wedding was on a Friday. Specifically, the Friday before December 1st.

So you’re thinking what’s the big deal, right? Photographer’s shoot 2 weddings in a weekend fairly often. True. The problem was that these 2 weddings were in different towns. Actually, they were in different states. That’s right. I shot Friday’s wedding in Guthrie, Oklahoma and then my dear sweet husband drove me all night long to reach San Antonio, Texas by 6am. Best husband EVER award definitely goes to Brad!

Since I had scheduled the Friday wedding first, I had originally given some thought to telling Lesley and Corey that I couldn’t shoot their wedding after all. The problem was that I knew it was going to be an amazing wedding and even more importantly, they are an amazing couple. So I prayed a lot that everything would go smoothly to get me to San Antonio and I did and the wedding was GORGEOUS. Lesley’s attention to every. single. detail. was beyond anything I could have imagined. I’m not sure there was a single thing that she forgot in planning their special day. And she was a breathtaking bride.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, thank you SO much for choosing me to come all the way to San Antonio and be such an important part of your wedding day. Thank you for trusting me to not only get to San Antonio but to document everything in a way that you’ll be able to remember for all the rest of your married years. I wish you every blessing in all the December 1st’s to come!

We talked this company into letting us get on top of their double decker bus for some pictures. They were SO awesome and even ended up giving us a ride back to the hotel. When I first climbed up though I couldn’t find Madi and then I turned around and she had climbed up on a bus in front of ours to get a shot. I was all “you’re so good!”. Too bad she doesn’t want to follow in her Mom’s footsteps and be a photographer. Instead, she’s planning on being a doctor. Whatev.
